Embodiment Project is a Bay Area Performing Arts Organization that began as a street dance theater company. They honor and express Black Social Dances and street dance forms, and draw on other dance traditions including modern dance and use choreo-poetry, documentary theater, live song, and video art to articulate and hold stories of liberation.
Embodiment Project celebrated their fourth Get Free Festival rooted in the theme of “Surrender is Fortitude.” The week-long dance intensive presented a bridge between concert dance and street dance culture; and push the envelope of experimental live performance, battling, dance education, and storytelling through movement.
